VATICAN CITY

St Peter's piazza

This is the St.Peter’s square in Vatican city or Holy See. In 1984, the Vatican was added by UNESCO to the list of world heritage sites. This picture is taken from the top of the world famous St.Peter’s Basilica, designed by the Italy's foremost architects, including Michelangelo and Raphael. The St.Peter’s square is a masterpiece of the architect Bernini, built in 17th century. If you stand on the dark paving stones between the obelisk and either of two fountains, the columns line up in perfect rows so that the massive columns behind can't be seen. I enjoyed my walking tour in Rome and Vatican city.
